"ICONS OF SPEED AND STYLE"
"ICONS OF SPEED AND STYLE"
Personally I would have preferred "Icons of Rodding and Racing" but that's just my opinion. Each vehicle below has it's own legendary history and I hope you
know most of them. Incidentally the Alexander Brothers
DEORA custom pickup and Chuck Miller's FIRE TRUCK C-Cab both won the prestigious Ridler Award
in 1967 and 1968 respectively. As far as the auction goes, they say that "Money Isn't Everything" but I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. Incidentally, if "Money
Was No Object", I would have bought the first three vehicles below.

At the Houston Autorama last November (Thanksgiving weekend), the ISCA crowned their 2008/2009 International Points Champions. Unlike previous years where
one vehicle was crowned Points Champion, this time around they decided to crown a champion in each of the ISCA's six categories...Custom, Rod, Truck, Street
Machine/Competition, Antique/Restored and Bike. Twenty-seven car owners qualified for the finals and they converged from all over the country to show their
vehicles at the Houston Autorama. Below are the six 2008/2009 ISCA Category Points Champions. Congratulations to them all.
Before leaving the Houston Autorama, let's congratulate the big winner at the show; Indiana's Alton Love and his SHADES OF LOVE  1956 Chevy Custom. While
the ISCA Points Championship was a "show within a show", the Houston Autorama crowns the winner of the prestigious Millwinders Award for the best vehicle
showing in Houston for the first time. Alton had also qualified for the Ridler Award at the Detroit Autorama earlier in the year.

OOPS! Looks like we're not leaving the Houston Autorama just yet. Since I
never posted coverage of the Houston Autorama other than what's posted
above, I decided to feature a few "STAR CAR(S)" from the Houston show
below. In my opinion these three vehicles from all corners of the country
really stood out during the Houston Autorama. The 1929 Ford Phaeton belongs to Texan (Ft. Worth) Tom Blanton who also had two other vehicles in the show
that were both in competition for the 2008/2009 Points Championship. The wild 1941 Ford Business Coupe belongs to Richard Graese out of Gilbert, AZ. The
car competes in the ISCA Radical Custom class. Wilder still is the 1950 International Stake Bed Street Machine of Wisconsin's Derald Pontel who was also
competing for the 2008/2009 Points Championship. It was a pleasure to see them all and I hope to see them again during the 2009/2010 ISCA show car season.
